Whitby has scored the first goal in all three games, something the Cougars will be looking to correct going forward, especially these next two games.

Prior to Friday night, Pernerowski hadn't played since Jan. 27 when he was injured during a game in Lindsay which was just his third game with the Cougars since being acquired at the deadline. The 20 year old was brought in for his veteran presence and to help the team offensively from the blue line, so he didn't enjoy sitting in the stands.
This time, though, it was the hometown Cougars who scored a pair of power play goals to take a 3 1 advantage out of the first period and finally gave their fans there were 757 spectators in total Saturday night something to cheer about with a 6 2 victory.
Brown had started Game 1 of the series, but was replaced by Verrier. The Cougars are looking for either guy to step up right now and Brown, for his part, did settle down after the early Whitby goal Saturday night.
Pernerowski's first goal evened the score at one while his second put the Cougars up 4 1 at the 50 second mark of the second period.

"Honestly, I wasn't too worried (by the early Whitby goal)," said Cougars defenceman Taylor Pernerowski, who after returning Friday night from injury, scored twice in Saturday's win. "I couldn't see the same thing happening as last night. The guys were too prepared and too ready today and we weren't going to let one goal get us down."
Locals rack up first semifinal win
The start of Saturday's game back in Cobourg was quite similar before going a different direction. First, there was the Whitby goal followed by Cobourg answering to tie it 1 1.
Goaltender Keinan Brown, who made 23 saves, was between the pipes for Cobourg's first win of the series. On Friday night, he replaced Emerson Verrier who had surrendered the first five goals. The Cougars also scored the only goal (by Justin Danforth) of the third period that night, which helped carry some momentum over to Game 3 at the CCC.
