his spot on the Legislature though it will be interesting to see if he can run for the North Greenbush Town Board again since a ton of federal money goes into the county's Mental Health Department because there is such a thing as the Hatch Act.

It will too be interesting to see who the majority picks to replace him.

As I stated before, there were three things McDonough had to worry about: His DNA being under the flap of the ballot envelopes, some 40 voters who said they didn't fill in a number of fields on the absentee applications and a former FBI handwriting analyst who said the aforementioned fields were written in McDonough's hand.
Something tells me the county Legislature and the county executive will raise even more of a stink about Trey Smith's bill. On the one hand, I can't blame them and it's politically expedient to hold off on spending hundreds or thousands of dollars the final tab isn't in yet but Smith, the special prosecutor, already submitted a bill for a little more than $311,000, and that didn't include the second trial of former Councilman Michael LoPorto or this trial Prada Bag Vintage
One can't help but give McDonough's attorney, Brian Premo, credit for the win. I and a bunch of other people were wondering why he didn't put up any witnesses but just hammering away at the prosecution's witnesses turned out a successful strategy. He used a similar tactic to get a mistrial during McDonough's first trial that ended in a hung jury. This time around he got an acquittal on 61 of the 62 counts and Pulver, wisely, tossed the one charge the jury deadlocked on.
In the end, I can't say I'm upset about the McDonough verdict from a personal stand point. I always got along with the commissioner and would hate to see him looking at jail time three days before Christmas for something as stupid as trying to steal the Working Families Party line. As a taxpayer, I'm not too happy because it's a ton of money with few results.
As near as I can tell, those two were on the periphery of the scam so it's time to move on.
He pretty much got up on the stand, lied and Judge George Pulver struck everything he said from the record. If I'm on the jury, that throws the prosecution's entire case into question.
Playing armchair quarterback, if I had to pick a turning point, it would be the testimony of Democratic Party operative Tony Renna. Prada Glasses For Mens
That's a ton of money, but it was also a complex case and based on the testimony of 40 voters who got up on the stand and said they were defrauded, someone did something wrong. And there are four guilty pleas so it's going to be interesting to see what the county does or if it even has a say in the matter. Ultimately it will be up to the courts to decide what the county pays.
After that decision, and the acquittal of LoPorto earlier this year, I bet there are four guys who wish they took their case to a jury too rather than pleading guilty and they are: Former Councilman John Brown, operative Tony DeFiglio, Renna and McInerney.
for three trials that ended with no convictions. If you remember, LoPorto was tried alongside McDonough the first time around and then was acquitted by a jury earlier this year.
This scandal is more than three years old so it's time to put the whole thing to bed now. There are still two guys under indictment, former Councilman Clement Campana and Councilman Gary Galuski, but I hope Smith either cuts a deal or drops it all together.
There are three names kicked around now for District 2, which includes the towns of North and East Greenbush and Poestenkill: North Greenbush Town Board members Kelly Hoffman and Joe Bott and East Greenbush Town Board member Rick Matters.
The jury wasn't talking, but my guess is they thought Smith's other witnesses did more egregious deeds than than McDonough too and they did. In particular former City Clerk Bill Prada Wallet For Ladies McInerney, who admitted on the stand to forging hundreds of applications and ballots, including the signatures of voters. If I was a juror, I'd be asking how he was able to get off with a sweetheart deal that doesn't include jail time while at the same time being asked to send McDonough away for a long, long time.
And yet the jury spoke and found McDonough not guilty. So be it. He is not guilty.
